An auxiliary housing unit designed in a plot of existing principal structure as an income generating unit where the house owner can rent the structure for passive income. The concept for DADU in USA being in a high demand, the project was done in collaboration with Kaizen Architects based on USA. The design focuses on a homely function yet with use of minimal materials and playful forms as per the climate considerations of Seattle. The covered deck also is a very important space here to have a view of the backyard garden and also to enjoy the outdoor space more functionally. The stripped wooden claddings on the living and dinning block compliments with the rough concrete finishing on the bedroom block to have a minimal but raw approach.
